Rig Operation Manager (Base)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage drilling operations for the successful execution of drilling projects in the oil and gas industry.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and productive rig operations.
  • Oversee rig crew activities, including drilling supervisors and crew members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize project efficiency, including geologists, engineers, and procurement.
  • Monitor drilling progress, technical specifications, and wellbore construction, taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintain rig equipment and tools, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety awareness.
  • Prepare and review drilling reports, operational logs, and performance metrics, providing insights to upper management.
  • Manage project budgets, control costs, and contribute to procurement decisions for drilling-related resources.
  • Stay informed about industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in drilling operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, drilling engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in drilling operations, with a proven track record in rig management.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing drilling teams.
  • Technical proficiency in drilling practices, equipment, and technology.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in drilling environments.
  • Problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with industry software and tools for rig operation monitoring.
  • Flexibility for travel and work in challenging environments.
  • Relevant certifications (IWCF, IADC, etc.) are a plus.
