Senior Mechanic

Role Overview

As a Senior Mechanic, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating on-site operational activities related to drilling rig equipment in collaboration with the mobile mechanic team.
  • Being available 24/7 during shifts to prevent interruptions in drilling operations.
  • Inspecting mechanical components of engines, machinery, drilling equipment, and related connections to ensure operational readiness and compliance with technical standards.
  • Reviewing handover reports from subordinate staff, assigning follow-up tasks, and preparing post-maintenance reports after job completion.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues and performing adjustments and repairs on engines, machinery, and drilling rig systems.
  • Planning and scheduling maintenance activities—prioritizing preventive maintenance tasks in coordination with the mobile mechanic—and recommending improvements to existing maintenance plans.
  • Maintaining detailed records of performed repairs, including handover documentation for knowledge transfer and verbal updates on equipment status to the mobile mechanic.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, piping, and water supply issues using schematics and circuit diagrams to ensure uninterrupted drilling operations.
  • Supervising and guiding maintenance teams on proper care, routine inspection, and operation of mechanical systems both on-site and in the camp.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (minimum required)
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Based in Ahvaz, Khuzestan
  • Willing to travel and work in remote onshore drilling locations
  • Proficient in reading mechanical and schematic diagrams
  • Skilled in overhauling and repairing drilling rig mechanical systems
  • Experienced in preventive maintenance planning and execution
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with piping and pneumatic systems
  • Holds a valid Caterpillar D3512B Engine Training Certificate
  • Knowledge of HSE protocols, including survival at sea, helicopter ditching, and H₂S exposure response
  • Familiar with asset management standards and marine safety principles
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
