Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead drilling operations on the rig during designated shifts.
  • Monitor drilling parameters, equipment performance, and crew activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with drilling engineers to implement drilling plans and optimize wellbore construction.
  • Oversee the drilling crew’s activities, including drillers, assistant drillers, and rig crew members.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards at all times.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and drills to promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance activities as needed.
  • Perform regular inspections of drilling equipment, tools, and systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Communicate operational updates and issues to relevant stakeholders and management.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of drilling activities, equipment status, and incidents.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in well control and emergency response procedures when necessary.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve drilling objectives effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education. Technical certifications or coursework in drilling operations is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling operations, with hands-on experience as a tourpusher or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of drilling practices, rig equipment, and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a drilling crew.
  • Proficiency in well control procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Effective communication skills to relay operational information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and troubleshoot issues during drilling operations.
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging weather conditions and remote locations.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Team player attitude and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
