Accountant

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and regulatory compliance documents.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and supporting financial planning.
  • Maintain documentation of financial transactions, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial information and support decision-making.
  • Stay updated on accounting principles, regulations, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or relevant certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, financial analysis, and budgeting processes.
  • Ethical conduct, integrity, and confidentiality in handling financial data.
  • Adaptability to changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry’s financial operations is a plus.
