Camp Boss

Role Overview 

  • Manage all aspects of camp operations, including accommodations, catering, and sanitation facilities, to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient living and working environment for field personnel.
  • Plan and oversee the setup, maintenance, and dismantling of camp facilities in various remote locations, adhering to local regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate the transportation of personnel, equipment, and supplies to and from the camp location, considering accessibility and safety.
  • Monitor inventory levels of essential supplies (food, water, fuel, medical kits, etc.) and initiate resupply efforts in a timely manner to prevent shortages.
  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and emergency response procedures to ensure the well-being of camp occupants, complying with industry standards and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings, drills, and training sessions for all camp residents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Oversee meal planning, preparation, and service to meet the dietary and nutritional needs of camp residents.
  • Monitor food quality, hygiene practices, and waste disposal, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of camp infrastructure, including accommodations, dining areas, sanitation facilities, and recreational spaces.
  • Address maintenance issues promptly to minimize disruptions to camp operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between camp residents, field crew members, and project managers, ensuring effective communication and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with project managers to plan camp logistics and support the overall execution of geophysical exploration projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of camp occupancy, supplies, equipment, and expenses, providing regular reports to higher management.
  • Manage budget allocations for camp operations, optimizing resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.

 

  • Candidate Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in hospitality management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in camp management, preferably in remote and challenging environments.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with an ability to handle unexpected situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage diverse teams and interact with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, emergency response protocols, and environmental guidelines.
  • Familiarity with catering and food service operations is an asset.
  • Proficiency in relevant software for inventory tracking, reporting, and communication.
