Head of Accounting

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounting function within the Investment business segment of the oil and gas company.
  • Oversee the financial reporting, consolidation, and analysis of investment portfolio performance.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with industry standards.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes for the investment business segment.
  • Provide financial insights to support investment decision-making and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and complete financial data.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes and accounting standards, ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process for investment entities.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Drive process improvements in accounting operations and reporting efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or relevant certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience in investment accounting and familiarity with investment industry practices.
  • Proven track record in managing accounting operations and financial reporting for investment portfolios.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to guide and mentor accounting teams.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for accurate financial reporting.
  • Strong communication skills to convey financial information and insights to stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changing accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ethical conduct, integrity, and confidentiality in handling financial data.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and investment practices is a plus.
