Senior Project Control Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of project control processes for exploration and production activities within the oil and gas sector.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to establish project baselines, budgets, and schedules.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of project performance data, including cost, schedule, and scope metrics, to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Identify potential risks and deviations from project plans, providing timely insights and recommendations to mitigate issues and optimize project outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking milestones, deadlines, and dependencies to ensure project progress and timely completion.
  • Monitor project expenditures, cost trends, and financial variances, highlighting areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive project performance reports and forecasts to management and stakeholders, communicating key insights and action plans.
  • Implement change control processes to assess the impact of scope changes and adjustments on project schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Mentor and guide junior project control specialists, providing training and knowledge sharing to enhance the overall project control function.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to project control within the oil and gas industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, business administration, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Substantial experience (5+ years) as a Project Control Specialist, preferably in the oil and gas sector with exposure to exploration and production projects.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies, control techniques, and tools.
  • Proficiency in project control software and tools for scheduling, cost analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in risk assessment, mitigation, and change management within project environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and reporting requirements related to project control.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools.
